Our new roof was felt and battened by a contractor but my partner is doing the tiling. The battens laid are not level from one side of the valley to the other and so he is having difficulty with the valley tiles. The contractor believed there is no problem with this and says he could tile it no problem, but we are not prepared to pay £8k for this. Is working on uneven battens usual practise amoung roof tilers? Are we being too picky? The spacing between them is uneven by about 15mm per batten and the gauge is not right on some rows either. Any advice would be welcome, as I cant seem to find clear guidance, so I can hold them to account. Thanks.
