Went to order for delivery, using their website.
They are already getting £2.99 off me as a delivery charge.
I choose what I want, personal pizza, a side and a dip. Comes to £16 and the pence.
Go to confirm, says I need to order £17.99 minimum, so even adding a second dip doesn't get me there.
Almost as a point of principal, I'm not adding a third dip or another side.
I'll order a Chinese via Just Eat instead.
Dominos didn't get my business (yeah yeah I know, they don't care for a piddly small order like that.)

My point is, given they're already getting my £2.99 delivery, why set the limit at £17.99? £9.99 or something I could understand.

A hypothetical case.

If you were a driver would you want to end up delivering a single dipping cup or similar because someone forgot to get one?

The rules put in place to keep people from doing crap like that.

Thank them instead.

Eh?

My order was a personal pizza, a side and a dip. Dominos say thanks but no thanks.

However if I added another two dips they would say thank you for the order.

No difference to the driver whatsoever. And did you read my post properly? Evidently not. I said some sort of lower level would of course be acceptable to stop people ordering e.g. a side or less.

Thank them instead? Aye whatever.

My local chippy now has an order from me.

Yes... because Dominos have calculated at which price they break even and how much they need to set the minimum order to cover fixed/variable expenses.

Tbh, I skimmed it.

Glad to know.

I have never had a takeaway delivered
Same here. Our kids order them all the time. I wouldn’t order it in case (a) It’s Luke warm when it arrives, (b) The driver has a few dibs out of it and (c) the driver adds a few dibs to it!

Mrs Mottie calls those boxes on the back of Uber eats and Just eat bikes 'maggot boxes'.

When I used to work for Subway, I asked the same question to the manager and he said it was there to prevent people from ordering minor things.

The nutters then started to increase the price. Years ago, it wasn't £17.00.

I recall a survey by which magazine a good while back on the take away pre packed sand which caper

They found a percentage of them (?) we’re contaminated with human waste / excrement
:giggle:

It's all about profit margins .

Dominoes turning over more than a billion and expanding, they can afford a minimum order.

Luke warm? Solution? Microwave.

I've just finished my pudding supper and single chip steak. Came wrapped in nice clean paper, contained in a nice clean paper bag, delivered from a nice clean chippy 5 mins up the road.

I thought it was going to be Chinese. What is a pudding supper. It looks like a chip steak is the same as a grill steak?

Changed my mind. Had a haggis pudding (you prob don't get those down south but you'll get white, black and red puddings?) Chip (or chop) steak is essentially processed meat, suppose a bit like a burger in a different shape!

I love haggis on the few occasions I have had it. Is haggis pudding the full name for it? We get black puddings only in England, I believe. Love that too. When we visited relatives in Fife when I was young they had white pudding whilst we had fish and chips, so I never got to try it. I have never heard of red pudding!
