Trump v Zelenskyy

I am still trying to think through what happened yesterday. Not so much about Ukraine, but the much bigger picture. Most importantly, where does it leave us. Clearly, Trump cannot be trusted. That was brought home to me for real. Is Trump going to reorganise the world on the hemisphere principle which I posted about earlier. Many experts are now thinking that is possible. Did the American people want a wholesale change in foreign policy. If America pals up with Russia, how does that affect all the weapon systems we and the rest of Europe rely on. The uncertainty is a huge problem for me. Would a future Democratic president then change things. How can we plan on this basis. Are Germany going to commit to proper armed forces. Should we re-join the EU for economic security. There is a lot to think about!

How America has managed to get itself a president that is effectively an ally of Putin, amazes me

we now have shifted geo politics so that America and Putin are allies and enemies of Europe

I wasn't really on about what you wrote just in general but as you asked nicely, well they aren't really gangsters are they?

Can I ask you a question, what is your actual problem with us new ones? Why try and ruin the cooking talk thread? I really dont get it.

JD was confrontational from the start, Trump kicked off after Zelensky said 'we're getting it, but you have a big ocean, if you stop helping us, you'll be getting it too' or words to that effect, which Trump read as a threat, well, it was a threat and Zelensky is hardly in a position to make threats to the POTUS.

But it was never going to be cordial, I doubt Donald has forgotten that Zelensky helped Biden impeach Trump back in 2019 by not dishing the dirt on Hunter and Burisma oil.
