The CIA and Ukraine's intelligence equivalent regime changed Viktor Yanukovych when Obama was US President.
I dont think he thinks that politically, he's more into a transactional way of negotiating, its about tne money. He needs the minerals deal in the bag before he enters the next stage of negotiation with Pootin. But he wont get tnat far because he's refusing to give security guarantees.

I agree.
It's about HIM. He's made no coherent suggestion whatsoever about the future of Ukraine, except that he gets minerals, and hopefully the Russians will let him. He only sees Ukraine as giving in. So why should Z give up minerals - just to stop Russia getting them?
If I were Putin, once the US had stopped supplying arms, I'd keep bombing. He hasn't agreed any handover of minerals from what he sees as part of his Russia. He can tell the Murrcans to stay out of the way, it's HIS. HE needs compensating for all his costs, he would say.
The minerals thing is a bit of a pie-in-the-sky, red herring, excuse for something else, it has been suggested. Russia has control of half of them already, but the resources are not all developed and quantified by any means. No more has been done at some sites than some test drillings. Most of what's left is west of the big dividing river which goes Kyiv-Dnipro-Odesa.
I still can't quite believe that T sees no crime in Putin's invasion in the first place. Have they got to him?? Something else is going on there.

Putin and trump have probably agreed to chop up the natural resources now.

Steven Fry summed it up on the kunsberg programme, it’s about power, the cult of power, and how power only respects power. So pootin is respected because of his power but ukrane and zellenski are not, even though they aren’t the enemy. It’s the same in Garza where the imbalance of power is even greater. Trumpf’s response is to see a real estate opportunity. What happens at the end of his presidency, well he’ll go for a third term and americas slide into dictatorship will continue, I hope I’m wrong.

A point everyone seems to be missing is...
If Trump gets the mineral rights, and Russia then grabs Ukraine, where does that leave Trump with his rights - unless he offers Ukraine the defence deal they want?

The mineral rights would cover the whole country and exclude the regions where Putin would keep an occupying force. All hypothetical, of course, since Ukraine has no intention of giving up their land while the UK and EU continue to support their war effort.
He's humiliated Zelensky, possibly deservedly so and to a lesser degree he's humiliating 'Europe', or at the very least exposing the massive splits within both Europe and Nato.
I agree that something else is going on here, either that or he really is mad and we're all *****d.

I think the suggestion is he would cream off the profits and use contracted local labour but that offers no security to ukrane or America
