Theoretically, the closer you get to travelling at the speed of light, the slower time passes. So much so, that if you were to actually surpass the speed of light, you could travel backwards in time. Theoretically.

Physicists have already worked out that matter travelling at light speed, its mass becomes infinite. E= MC²

Imagine several thousand years ago when man looked at the moon and thought that being on it was nothing but pure fantasy!!

A theory is that the "aliens" are us from the future only "we" cannot do the journey so we are sending the "greys" which are bio engineered beings/robots who can do the journey. The abductions that are reported from the greys have an interest in human physiology - possibly trying to fix something that the future us needs.
So sending from the future involves no distance to travel only time so vast distances of the universe mean nothing

That would depend how low the cloud cover was. Quite often when skiing we are above the clouds one minute, in them the next then below them minutes later. I guess if there was a steep sided mountain and some peasant wanted to 'give it a go', it wouldn't be that difficult to achieve. I'm not sure I'd call it flying though.

I do admire the Wright brothers though and other pioneers.
