Because he knows if things carry on the way it is at the moment, in order for Ukraine to win then it will involve putting troops on the ground and fighting a bloody war. The way things are going at the moment it is simply costing a lot of lives and money on both sides with no real winners emerging.

Who is suggesting any western (nato) country wants or needs to join in ? Ukraine are merely defening their country and way of life, their sovereignty. They were never looking to claim any part of any other country.

Supplying defence needs to let Ukraine fight its own war is different to joining in.

A case could be made by the Labour government to introduce mandatory military servce for two years; 18-20, perhaps, since they're asking for an increased defence budget to come out of our taxes but it'll never fly past General Public who don't see an external threat to UK security while a member of NATO we remain.

I estimate we will be at war with Russia within the next 10 years. We need a peace deal now to re arm and get NATO war ready too. We need to increase our military spending to get into a good fighting force in the next 5 years which it will take since military spending was cut over the same period.

I certainly disagree, Trump will not be funding the Ukraine war soon, no more military equipment suplies or money, that falls onto the UK, France and Germany to increase our contribution. We havent got the might of the surplus military equipment like the U.S have.
