He probably also doesn't realise that the damage to the markets has reduced the value of the voters' pension funds.

And the drop in the dollar has increased the cost of all imports, and foreign travel, to the American voter. Luckily most of them have little awareness of RoW.

Any economist will tell you tariffs are a tax on consumption, they are a regressive tax.

Given that the tariffs are on every USA import, we can safely say virtually all American citizens will be paying them
