Hi Folks,. I have a 2 way switch operating the "opposite way up" to how I ideally want. See picture for context. Am I correct in thinking that if I swap the wires between "1" and "2" this should sort it.

.... and do I need to move both the grey and black wires out of (2)

TIA

and yes I know I could turn it upside down, but the other side of the switch (its 2 gang) it the correct way round!

Yes, swap both wires from 1 with both wires from 2.

does the live loop definitely need to move from 1 to 2 too?
Not really, but it's hard to tell if it's the black or he grey that goes to the lamp.
Swapping both as endecotp said will definitely work.

Or you could swap them at the other switch. Likely only one wire in each there.

perfect , thanks all really appreciated.

You seem to understand - but I have to ask:

Is the other switch 'upside down' as well? :giggle:
Nope the other switch in a 1-way and works as "up=off, down=on"... so keen to keep that as is!

I suppose an alternative is to flip the entire switch 18- degrees and then just change the wires from 1 to 2 on that side of the switch.... broad as it is long I think!

both switches up - light ON

That’s unconventional - I would normally expect that if all switches are in what is normally the “off” position, i.e. “up”, then all the lights would be off. In fact, if I were changing a bulb, I’d rely on this being true.

This is what im aiming for.

Then the lights will also be OFF when both switches are "down".

:) That's why I asked.

and makes it simpler for the "bedtime turn off routine" if all switches are in the UP position...
You can't have it both ways - or rather you have to have it both ways.

, perhaps its just OCD!
I would do it like I suggest but that's just me.
