Voting age to be reduced to 16

The government is giving 16yr olds the vote as they are considered responsible individuals.
So why are the same 16yr olds considered as being children in a court of law when they have done wrong?

Interesting comment

a vote is the ability to offer a minimum level off opinion far far short off criminal responsibility ??

They are as criminally responsible as adults but the sentencing system is different. IIRC Serious offenders had their right to vote removed by Cammeron.

……Who they think will vote labour.
So what...

Old folk tend to vote for ideologies that negatively impact the younger generations and screw up the UK...

And they appear to support policies that disproportionately disenfranchise those younger generations through gerrymandering...

So why not re-balance the system (y)

Age of legal capacity is 16

Lots of young impressionable people are attracted to the lies put out by the Reform party.

Sadly old gammons fall for their lies too, especially Muslim haters

It is entirely possible kieth’s plans will backfire and the changes will produce people who become cynical about politicians at a younger age.

It gives the Daily Mail something to cry about though.

If he reduced the voting age to 6 months, he'll still be out next election. He had the chance to put Labour back on the map and blew it in no time. Sad waste of an opportunity.

Labour are already desperate to get more voters onboard.

It won’t help, this is our last Labour government

He hasn’t blown it

Labour have had to make difficult, unpopular decisions to keep the country going after the last lot salted the Earth.

since 2019 the Conservatives became populists and they spent their whole time making policy for headlines whilst burying all the sh1t knowing they were getting the boot.

“Prisons about to collapse it, keep quiet till Labour get in”
“£800m spent on stupid Rwanda scheme -fek it, keep it going till Labour get in and have to ditch it”
“NHS waiting lists keep going up” fek it, don’t raise taxes to put money towards cutting waiting lists, let Labour tske the flak for tax rises to deal with it”

People don’t mind difficult decisions, if they see the results. Fewer jobs, higher taxes and more illegal immigration is not what people were hoping for.

It's gratifying to see the potholes and road mending catching up.

One important B road near me has gangs working every evening after traffic has quietened, they have done spot repairs and are now scalping quite long stretches. I'm told they will suspend work over the Bank Holiday when there will be a lot of visitors.

Business must be tricky for the companies doing this kind of work when demand has been low for years.
