There is no way to support, or dismiss the idea, so we are both left with gut feeling. I cannot prove I am correct, you cannot prove me wrong. My own gut feeling, based on several examples I have read about, is that some examples must have been created by earlier civilisations, with more advanced engineering skills, than traditional history would suggest.

Thats a massive climb down from there being plenty of evidence. Now it's just your gut feeling.

I'm not convinced it was aliens, but there is considerable, and quite convincing evidence, that the earth had previous civilisations living upon it, before we appeared on the scene.
