The figures for small boat asylum applications, in relation to all immigrants, is nearer 10%.
They can come via a multitude of legal routes: students, visitors, temporary workers, family members, etc.
If they claim asylum, most of them are also successful.

The vast majority of such applicants hold a valid visa on the day prior to their application.

British Nationality Act 1981 abolished automatic birthright citizenship.
