Can I fix this into concrete?

I'm looking for a cheap solution to tidy up where there was once a conservatory. I think I'll need to replace the back door in a year or two so don't want to spend a load putting in a patio or decking quite yet.
I've been thinking about gravel, but how to contain it? Could I get some of this plastic garden edging and secure into the concrete with nails?
I did consider concrete paving edging but don't have the tools to cut lengths to fit. Bricks means mortar and tbh I can't be faffed with learning how to make it or buying the tools.
Any other ideas? I'm a fairly competent DIYer but time poor, and still building up my tool bag.

Timber would be effective and if you use pallet timber free.

Was planning to do that anyway, but I'm left with an ugly, uneven concrete base

I can see where you're coming from in terms of being relatively cheap/temporary until you do it properly. You can use that edging in your photo, but I'd throw the nails in the bin, make sure the concrete is dust free, and stick it down with " sticks like s#@% " straight out the tube. No drilling or plugging.

Oh, and unroll it first and leave it in the sun to heat and straighten out !

Will last a few years. I used pallets as a shed base, still good when demolished 5 years later.
