Hi, I'm having the plasterer in doing a few rooms. The first room was completed 6 days ago and has been drying since, it is drying nicely I think.

I noticed there is one or two very thin hairline cracks. I didn't notice them before but I'm wondering if it is because of the drying process, it was warm the past few days and then cooled down and a lot of rain today, not sure if it can have any impact. The walls were okay condition before and so have been directly skimmed, the ceiling was artex and has been overboarded.

Just wanted to ask if there is anything to be concerned about, and if not how can I fix them, do I need to do some kind of filler, or will my mist coat + painting fill in the gaps and make it invisible? Really don't want to be doing all the rooms and painting only to be left with cracks.

The plasterer is coming again this week so I'll ask him then too, but curious to what this forum thinks.

Cheers.

Here is the wall just after the plaster was applied:

Bit unfortunate.
I can't tell you why other than there has been some movement causing a crack.
Call the people who skimmed it to fix

Okay I'll speak to the plasterer. I noticed a small one on the opposite side of the room too.

What would be a good solution do you think, I can't imagine he's going to reskim, and I don't know if that would help anyway. Is it possible to just add a bit more plaster to the affected part, not sure if that could work and still be smooth and level.

I'm also concerned whether these may appear in the other rooms I've had done. He's coming back to do more plastering this week so should be able to get it looked at but I'd imagine getting his time will be more tricky once he's moved on to other jobs.

Fingers crossed it is just this one and not recurring.

I scratched plaster back with a tungsten scraper. Put a tape ( fibre fuse) in. Skimmed over and sanded.
Putting a tape below the plaster surface you don't get a surface bump.

I used toupret powder filler. Easy job tbh

Thanks mate.

I spoke with the plasterer today, he said it is most likely to do with it drying a bit fast in that area but not 100% sure. He is going to fix it with filler for me. Hopefully it will all be fine after painting.
