Cooling tips

That's interesting to know. Just to clarify, do you mean it keeps the house cool in the hot weather. Or it helps it cool down afterwards.
It keeps it cooler in the hot weather as the insulation blocks heat from entering through the brickwork.

In winter it helps keep out the cold too. Reduces bills massively.

Insulation, just delays the inevitable. The heating up, and the cooling down when it's cold out.

My final tip, now that the weather is cooling, is that most traditional masonry built houses will have built up a lot of heat in the structure. So, you might open the windows for a bit and think the house has cooled. But as soon as you close them, the temperature will shoot up again. Our house takes a couple of days to get back to normal.
The stupid consecutive governments have put in place building regs for keeping homes warm without one thought to how they will keep them cool.

I know people say that about modern homes. But what is the reason. Which building rules made that happen. People can still open the windows, for instance.

Keeping them warm is more often a problem, than keeping them cool. The better insulated they are, the cheaper they are to keep warm in the cold weather, but conversely, the cheaper they are to cool in hot weather.

I think the insulation just delays the ambient. I have a room hat is new and well insulated and it is about 2 weeks behind the rest of the house. weeks into a hot spell and it feels cooler - but it does warm up and then 2 weeks into a cooler spell it feels warmer than the rest of the house. Its not used often and the door is kept shut 80% of the time.

have this roll over your house, temp went from 25 to 17

I love it when that happens. But no joy here. And none forecast. Just a steady drop.

spectacular fork lighting to boot - best I have seen for a few years

A few years ago I was driving through one of the valley bottoms in one of the Yorkshire Dales at night, when we had the most torrential rain and forked lightning. I had to pull over because of the rain. It was probably the greatest natural event I have ever seen. Time after time it went from being pitch black to the hills all around me being lit up by the most amazing lightning. It went on for ages. Something I will never forget.

this has to be the best for years, the lightening is nearly continuous, and the noise - WOW - and the rain WOW again
has to be better than any bunker busting bombs
