Music and Covers Vs the orginal

Im not a great music freak but I do like a song done well.

Some covers come out better than the original. Some don't.

There's no doubt for me.. ones fantastic, the other isn't.

When working in Hong Kong, there were rip-off CD's and starNice CD's both sold at the side of the road, the rip-off were good, original artists, the StarNice some sounded reasonable, but others were complete rubbish, no one can sing like Barbra Streisand she is a one-off.

Same for me when travelling south east Asia. All the dodgy tapes off the Koh San Road.

Barbra Streisand was a wonderful singer. My elder brother loved her. As i got old I realised what a voice she had.

I don't think its possible to make a bad version of 'Everybody's talkin'' but i feel the Beautiful South edges it: Alison Wheeler has a voice that sweetens the lyrics. A fine version of Midnight Cowboy came from an unexpected source when Faith No More gave us this on their 1992 classic album 'Angel Dust.
