Ssssssshhhhhh, don't mention Reform.

It’s easy to be generous with other people’s money.

Are you thinking of Tory former Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick, who unlawfully approved a billion-pound development scheme for Tory donor and pornographer Richard Desmond, after they enjoyed a cosy chat over dinner? His hasty intervention was timed to save the developer between £30m and £50m in infrastructure levies.

If the lowest paid people were given a fair wage then they could pay more tax.
If they had better skills, they would have more choice and be able to drive up their wages.
And if goods and services were fair prices, they could afford to pay more tax
You understand how inflation happens? probably not.
But private equity / sovereign wealth funds have been allowed to control every part of life in this country.....making low paid workers suffer and the wealthy accumulate more assets.
meanwhile the government spends millions nationalising the rail sector, which had already been nationalised.

unlawfully? So he's in prison now, yes?

wages used to be better, they’ve stagnated for 17 years

In the last 60 years ratio of lowest paid employee to CEO of a business has gone from 20 to 1 upto 200 to 1

Yet in the last 17 years the top 1% have seen their wealth increase exponentially.

living costs like rent, gas, electricity, food used to be far more affordable.

So clearly the problem is not simply getting a better job, is it? The problem is wealth inequality

normally inflation sees wages and goods and services increase together.
In last 17 years wages have stagnated, costs have gone up…..but the very wealthy have seen their wealth skyrocket.

Please explain what inflation has to do with it

Additionally, Jenrick waived affordable housing rules, saving his pornographer dinner buddy another £106million

It’s easy to be generous with other people’s money.

Yep, that's Tories for you.

As do you (y)

If fact, I guarantee you pay a smaller percentage than I do, as you actively seek out ways to.

Me?
PAYE, and some premium bonds. I no longer have an ISA.
You've shared sufficient information previously for me to know that your "guarantee" is incorrect.

You are PAYE and do not do self assessment. That is sufficient for me to know that both the tax paid as a percentage of your income as well as the amount, is significantly less.

For Year ended April-25 I will pay 43% of my income in tax and national insurance. This is neither a small percentage nor a small amount.

As I said, it's easy to be generous with other peoples money. Those with the broadest shoulders etc.. We all need to chip in.. yep I've heard it all, from people on the basic or higher tax band.
