Last Tuesday (07/09) I paid £5 dart charge to cover 2 crossings, returned on Friday.

According to the website, for my reg and FJ number, I "haven't made any crossings against this payment."

I would have thought I would have triggered the cameras and made a payment. The journey back was bumper to bumper, so maybe that could have been missed, but journey there over the bridge was little traffic.

Seems odd.

Did you cross when there was no charge? I think it’s 10pm - 6 am. If you use it regularly, it’s worth having an account that automatically tops up. Cheaper and you can never miss out then. I have all our cars as well as our kids cars on it. If you’ve not been charged then they’ve missed you and there’s nothing to worry about. Save it as a screenshot though in case you need evidence in the future.

Saying that, I’ve recently sold one of my cars so I’m going to take that off right now. Thanks for the reminder. (y)

Was middle of day both ways, so def chargeable.
Will screenshot.

I had an account but it was cancelled as i didn't use it for a year.

No, i actually washed my car before traveling!

As I said, I have an account but we don’t use the crossing that much these days as we rarely go to Bluewater and if I do, it’s normally on my motorbike and motorbikes are free to cross. If my dart charge account balance drops to below a tenner, it’s automatically set up to top up by a tenner direct from my bank account. We used it last week going to Gatwick and back so it must have dropped below the ten pound balance as I had a notification that a tenner had been taken from my account but…….they've also paid a tenner into my account! I did a search on my bank account and it appears that every time they take a tenner to top up my account, they add it to my dart balance and then pay a tenner back to me! Looks like I’ve got free crossings for life! :ROFLMAO:

Could be your bank not honouring payment so returned . Maybe leading to a fine . Check bank details have not expired and emails for failed transaction.

Just double checked. Account number all correct. Never been changed since we opened a dart account probably 10-15 years ago. It leaves my bank account, tops up my dart account and I then get the tenner returned. It’s been doing that for a couple of years and I’ve never had a fine so no reason to believe I will get one. Cost has always been £2.50 if you pay after crossing but £2 if you pay up front. I started with £20 and when it goes below a tenner, it auto tops up by a tenner. Strange thing is, my balance after top up is always £14.82! How it got to that amount when it’s £2 a time and topped up £10 a time, I have no idea! The cost for crossing going up soon along with the minimum amount and the minimum top up so it may get picked up then. I’ll wait and see.
