Out of the American comedies, Taxi was the one for me, especially Christopher Lloyd's character Jim, hilarious.

Friends is my favourite ever show.
I know pretty much every line. Except from series 3 and 4, which I haven't watched as many times as the others.
What really surprised me, is how popular it still is with younger people. It has lasted in ways which no other TV comedy ever really has and is still massive. I don't think anyone really knows why. There have been lots of attempts to copy it.

Big Bang Theory is a bit of a copy attempt (i think) but I could never get into that.
I think so, too. But it was different enough to be fresh. I ended up loving it. It's not quite as cosy as Friends, because there is an undercurrent of hostility between some of the characters. I managed to convert a non-liker by giving them a couple of really good episodes to try.

That's true. Friends is much more consistent. There are only two series of Big Bang which I really love and that's series 3 and 4. I would say they are on a par with the best of Friends. Some of the later ones are so bad that they only get pity laughs from the audience.
A lot of people did. I really liked it, too. It's a very type of different comedy. Frasier is more of a farce. I think the unique thing about Friends, for a comedy, is how invested people get in the characters.
