I never really liked East Coast fish and chips. Although, I remember going to the Golden Fry in Hull a couple of times many, many years ago and that was really good. Do they still sell patties at chippies in Hull?
I was brought up on a pattie in a breadcake, I put that down to the secret of my looks

I was brought up on cake butties. In a teacake as we call them on this side of Yorkshire. Soaked with salt and vinegar.

You’re not the ray of sunshine I wanted filey to be.

Where is good then ?

We have always liked Scarborough, but it is a totally different sort of place. Filey sounds like it will suit you more. I'm not a walker, so I can't comment on that aspect. There is a long beach and the Brigg.

@MNW67 seems negative about Filey and the surrounding area.
I'd say that was a positive then.
I've never been to Filey, but have stayed at the Haven site just down the road before and the beach is fantastic. You can walk for miles, then walk back the way you came:giggle:.
Bliss.
I really don't understand the obsession that some people have with fish and chips.
As with most, basic cuisine, it is either crap (almost inedible), decent (still ate it all), outstanding (wolfed the lot down and wished for more).
98% of f&c shops fall into the latter two categories, although a place that was outstanding one week can quite easily become decent the next, and vice versa.
If its a touristy area just go to the one with the biggest queue.

I’ve got a walking app, plenty of nice little 5-6 mile walks.

Just to be clear, I meant the long beach and the Brigg are at Filey. I can see my post wasn't the clearest.

Either that or he’s miffed about something else.

I only ever have fish and chips when we are on a dog walking holiday, so 2-3 times a year max. But as you’ve said above when it’s good it’s good.

I’m not bothered about tourists, I used to live in St. Ives and Penzance

I think the WiFi was lacking, so he couldn't consult the Google God for a few days as being the most likely cause.

I'm pretty much the same with fish and chips, it's a once in a while thing, when on a seaside holiday somewhere. My eldest son really does like his cod and chops though, so we will get him an order in at least once a month, or there abouts.
