I'm looking for material for a very specific application. I have an outside storeroom that I am fitting 2 x 2m roller garage doors to.

I have a storeroom has a boiler inside that needs10 sq cm of ventilation and I'd like to stop the doors down securely onto a solid surface that has ventilation gaps below it.

My latest idea is to get an aluminium box section (8mm x 40mm x 2m and rout a series of channels through the narrow face on both sides to provide the necessary ventilation. Like this:

Does anyone have a better idea? If not - can anyone suggest where I can get this sort of box section?

Ventillation requirements for boilers will often come under "gas work" as they are based on calculations and not guessed at.
The sizing of vent holes and vent positioning is also defined.
Out of interest what is the exact boiler model and approximate size of this storeroom?

You do realise ventillation requirements of boilers comes under gas safety law...and guessing at it can have serious consequences.

Just core drill a vent in wall.
Why only 40mm high? surely a roller door will accommodate whatever you put under it?

Thank you for the replies. The boiler is a Windhager pellet boiler that sits outside the main house - the required vent sizing I got from the Service Engineer/Installer
The storeroom is a timber framed/slate-roofed lean-to. 1m deep, 4m wide (hence two garage doors) and the opening is 1.8m high

Pure asethetics - I don't want to drill a hole in my lovely log-lap wall

The sizing I was proposing is 8mm HIGH, 40mm deep and 2m long i.e. as flush as I can get it

PS I've found this which is very close to what I was thinking, if a little narrow

That cannot be correct.
A 10cm² hole is tiny - approximately the same size as a waste pipe from a kitchen sink.

Such a thin section will be of no use, as a slot a few mm wide will very quickly be blocked with dirt and provide no ventilation at all.

I took it to be 10cm square . ?

Also, the wider and thinner a vent hole is the less air will actually go through it. The static "boundary effect" reduces the effective gap.
