It isn't always that simple. Many asylum seekers aren't in a traditional war. They are often from a minority which is being persecuted.

If they were genuine refugees then they have the morals of a snake and cowards to leave their wives and children in that country and flee to safety for themselves. No, you cannot tar an entire group with the same brush, however it's not exactly a secret that many men from these cultures don't consider woman as equals. I reckon many (most?) of them couldn't give a flying feck about any woman or children they're leaving behind.

If I had a wife and kids who I loved, and England started to attack an independent Scotland meaning Scots had to flee, my thought process would be 'we all leave together or I stay with you. And if there's a chance for you and the kids to get out but I have to remain, so be it.'
