Changing heating Thermostat

I changed my thermostat year ago from a Salus RT500 to Hive 1, had vaguely recall having to get some advice at the time and possibly having to adopt the wireing. Anyway I will be moving house and want to take my hive with me and put the old thermostat back. I have looked at the wiring (first picture is the current Hive, 2nd is the Salus back plate) and can see a looped yellow wire at point 2 and 3 on the Hive. Is this something I can discard when I put the Salus back?

You'll have to, as there's nowhere for it to go - the Salus only has 2 connections, one in and one out. (Plus earth).

I can also see 2 wires not connected to anything, and an earth being used for something other than an earth, which is not good. Where did you get the advice to do that?

And what's at the other end of all that?

As its been a while ago I cant remember how the earth wire ended up going to heating on, it could be due to the restricted space I was working in the other end. The other wires arent connected to anything.

As @morqthana has pointed out, wrong colours have been used, and if the home already viewed, then to swap thermostat could be a problem, so is it worth it for £80, and will it be suitable for the boiler in the new home?

I know I brought the electronic TRV heads from my mother's house when sold, as the buyer said he did not want them, so fitted them here, and got a wall thermostat which said it would work with them. This was not the case, so I fitted a Nest Thermostat, which it turned out did not suit the home.

So I had to fit a different thermostat, in my case Wiser, which did suit the boiler and house. The Hive you show is not the OpenTherm version, you may not need OpenTherm in the new home, but be it Hive, Wiser or any other make, also the TRV heads need to match the wall thermostat,

The Hive TRV head is more expensive to the Wiser TRV head, so unless taking them with you as well, may be better starting from scratch again.

Sorted, local plumber who has serviced the boiler several times for me has advised me exactly how to do it on whatsapp. Its great that some people can be so helpful.

I'm really sorry, I initially thought you were being a bit condescending with the latter part of your reply but now I have re-read it I see it different. Thanks.
I wasn't sure what to do with the neutral but have been advised I can blank it off. I did consider disconnecting it at the other end but now I look at the access to the interchange I don't believe I did anything in it, all I did was change the original Thermostat for the Salus and I think I must have got someone to install the Hive later.
