Renewable Energy growth

My, what an intelligent response.

Just observing that people like you are in a dying minority.

So a reliance on batteries, so a few days of no wind, no sun ……… and black outs

Storage is a problem, my home uses around 12 kWh per day, December around 96 kWh total from 6 kW of solar power, so looking at around 24 kW of panels to keep going in December, so what would one do with all that in summer?

So we need wind, wave, and tidal and in the right proportions. Dinorwig Power Station is the sort of unit we need, it can store 9.1 GWh of energy, the Pelham battery storage is only 50 MWh so quite small compared with Dinorwig, and the Dinorwig was designed to take the output of the nuclear power station's starting up and shutting down, which are far more predictable to renewables.

What needs to be avoided is one firm picking up the easy options, and another firm having to fill the gaps. Dinorwig took 10 years to build, so the timescale for the renewables would need to take a similar time.

The stories about so many million kettles being switched on at the same time, is not any longer a factor, I look at my power use, 1756403013082.png and it is all 1:30 to 3 am, unless son arrives with his electric car, then 1756403184972.png so the main problem with the supply seems to be hinged around electric cars.

do you know a way to avoid it ?
I am willing to adopt any view point no matter how wacky if it somehow avoids life's great certainty

People can't avoid dying.

But they can avoid being part of a dying minority ideology by not being swivel-eyed believers in the lies told to them by people who so do not have their interests at heart.

Aveatry could, for example, stop believing whatever lies he's been told about "taxpayer subsidies" to Ecotricity. He could stop believing the lies about JSO, and net zero, told to him in the pages of the various right-wing, libertarian-supporting newspapers who promote the interests of those who would squash him and his entire family into the dirt without a second's hesitation if it made them richer.

i would not have thought it was a dying minority, thankfully it is a small minority but worryingly people believing in conspiracy theories seems to be on the up - shares in 'conspiracy weekly' could be a worth while punt.

It could all be linked to climate change in some sort of mad feedback loop, the hotter it gets the less well the brain functions and the more likely conspiracies get believed. America is suffering really badly from this now (note how much they love trump) and we traditional follow America

the future is barking mad

Sometimes one does wonder about how safety is approached. For example, changing an EV car, two options, make the car class II, so the body is not connected to the supply earth, so loss of PEN is not a problem, or earth the body of the car, and fit loss of PEN detectors, and don't fit the detector in the car, but fit it elsewhere, either in the lead or the supply to the lead, so one either doubles up on protection or gets none at all, and also one has a danger that street furniture may not use same earth system adding more danger.

Had same problem with narrow boat, a class II battery charger and all in the boat used the inverter removed all problems with shore supply earth system eroding one's boat. But no, used diodes in the earth connection.

I do not know the speed of a wind turbine blade tip, but should think ice flying off them could cause quite some damage, and travel quite some distance, this

is unlikely to cause a problem other than noise, this

is something else. And this

next door I would object to, but this

is no problem to the neighbour, I have no objections, as to if they pay for themselves is another story.

I also object to the scottish government recent decision to site a massive off shore wind farm(Berwick Bank) when they know it will devastate the bird colonies of st abbs and bass rock - both significant colonies of world wide importance - Bass rock is the worlds largest colony of Gannets - and they feed a Berwick Bank during the breeding season - this wind farm could have been sited somewhere elese

Those people think the same about you.

It's not as if recent governments have not lied about anything.

I think it’s fair to say that no government in my life time has been truthful- and it’s getting worse now because we have social media
