I think the government need to take the heat out of this by building detention camps. It might be impractical and cost billions but we have reached a stage where this issue has been made so toxic.
Emmmm, HEEEELLO!!!
This is what I've been saying all along. They should have thrown a few billion at this a few years back.
Sea patrols.
Land patrols.
Drone patrols.
Basic, clean, safe accommodation built on disused airfields etc.
Quick processing (and not just a 'approved' for everyone to make it quick.)
Those rejected sent back or to somewhere like Rwanda if their homelands not willing to take them back.
All of the above adequately staffed.
But no. Typical government. We'll let an issue build and build until it reaches boiling point.
Of course, what doesn't help are the numerous lawyers making £££ out of helping folk remain, and the do-gooders who'd be happy with thousands arriving daily from anywhere.
This is what'll stop Reform if they get in come 2029. They might have the ideas, however being able to deliver them is an entirely different kettle of fish.
