On the dramatic increase in flags... I drove into town this morning and there were Union Jacks on absolutely every lamppost for about 2 miles, and visible into the distance on several of the side streets. Quite amazing, and it looked professionally done, all very uniform and at the same height. It was heartwarming and made the place feel like home again. The Union Jack matches our great buildings and complements them, as opposed to the all too familiar mish mash of roller shutters, warning signs, neon signs and graffiti that blights our streets nowadays.

Maybe we could get Highway to add a flag to each post or mast that he works on. Kill two birds.

I actually move them to the top so nobody can take them down, they are all over the place around Yorkshire, even the roundabouts have red crosses painted on them. It is nice to see.

I think I have solved the flag phenomenon. It's a wider expression to what is happening on here. If you have a view that opposes the current power then you are called a racist -and shut down, your voice is banned and cut off and you join Lucy in prison so people resort to expressing their disappointment with the government in a passive non violent way, but when just hoisting up a flag of the country you live in causes people to call you flag shaggers then this country is completely f- ucked

Sadly the St George's flag and Union Jack have become symbols of intolerance and hate:
