A microwave I was looking at I noticed the warranty process is you send it back by post at your expense

Would that be the norm . My thinking was I’d bring it back to shop but the customer info says not to bring it back

Don't buy it there. Look for the same appliance somewhere else with a less restrictive warranty process.

Warranty is meaningless, your contract is with the shop you purchase from so if faulty you would return to them .

I was mainly concerned about doa but sh1t happens after too

Any nonsense of posting things to be tested is way too much trouble

I sometimes wonder about that, as it is often mentioned buried in terms and conditions when you buy on-line. I always thought it was their responsibilty to pay for returns if goods are faulty. I just avoid retailers that say that you have to pay.
