Rewire.

You made a really good point there, matey!
I managed to push the new 1mm down the existing oval conduit but I was a bit worried as it came off when I tried to pull it up....I dont think the Mrs was feeding it lol

It was quite small maybe 16mm conduit

It's 1 core+earth cable, with green sleeving over the earth, AFAICT.
That's exactly what it is/was (y)
Oh, appearances (particularly photos) can be deceptive!

I thought what we were looking at was just one twin red + earth cable, with the grey sheath split lengthwise at the end to make it look like two cables.

If one of them is 1-core+earth, meaning that we are looking at two cables what is the other one - single red without earth, or has the CPC been 'cut back', or what?

They are both one core+earth with the earths in one sleeve

I repeated the post above it by mistake, so I changed it for a full stop, securespark was just joking

I'm fairly confident you can still buy the harmonised equivalent, mostly likely Oop North, where they seem to go ape for it.
I haven't done a great deal of rewiring South of Brum, but I did find sheathed singles and earth in a house in Birmingham, but not in a house in Bristol.

Not very representative samples, I know!
But having done the majority of my work North of Brum, I have come across sheathed singles countless times.

Forgot to add, wholesalers still sell sheathed single with earth cables.

White arrow shows air gap twix 2 cables
Green top shows end of sleeving
Green botton shows 2 copper wires
Red arrow shows 2 red wires

My instant reaction 8 hours ago was 2x single red&E
