Hi all,

New here but hoping someone might be able to help.

We're in the process of buying a 3 bed terraced house and, although we don't know the full extent, it looks like some kind of rewire will be needed.

Two light fittings that are hanging loose in the hallway don't appear to have earth wires. The house is earther but potentially none of the lighting is.

Before instructing a surveyor, I was hoping to try and work out the potential cost of having the lighting rewired as well as a full rewire if anyone can advise?

Based in Bristol if that makes a difference. We're just trying to work out whether it's worth getting the survey and potentially losing money if it's going to be a huge costly job that we wouldn't want to to anyway. Hopefully that makes sense :)

Thanks in advance!

As RF has indicated, its impossible to say without a site survey.
You haven't even said how big the house is or where in the country it is located!
Is this for the whole house, including outbuildings? You may want to include more/ different lighting and socket layouts. Multimedia points. central heating control circuits, etc

But even with this information
If you are serious about the property, get an electrician to do a site survey and give you a budgetary quote.
