Removing fitted wardrobes?

How are these generally fitted to the wall?

I can see some sort of small "box" inside with a screw and some sort of "hook" so I assume they tighten up to some sort of battening on the wall.
 
Sounds like kitchen cupboard brackets. Try undoing the screw, you might find that the wardrobe slowly removes away from the wall and can be lifted away. Mind your head!

That said, if they are proper fitted wardrobes, there is likely to be trim and skirtings fitted around the edges.

The screw facing outwards, turn it, see what happens.
You'll have to turn the other side by an equal amount.

If this cupboard is screwed into another cupboard next to it, then nothing will happen, you'll have to locate and undo those screws too.
