Dunno about arresting them. They should give them time off for services to the community.

oh I didnt realise that MPs worked in prisons
They don’t, and neither did Tory MP's, did they? But seeing how Keith and Lammy are apologising like crazy, I suspect they have some responsibility for them, don’t you? If not, who do you think is actually in charge of the prison service?

Did the Tories let all those recent prisoners out by mistake?

No, but they created the dysfunctional mess which makes mistakes more likely to happen.

The recent case of the fraudster William Smith was nothing to do with the Prison Service, that one was down to the court. And the court system is also in a mess because of swingeing budget cuts.

According to the Ministry of Justice, the median time [for rape cases] from offense to case completion was 1,020 days (over 2.5 years) in 2021.

Tory MPs spent 14 years running it into the ground

Labour have now taken over being in charge of a criminal justice system decimated by the Tories.

You moan about the prison service failing, you moan about Labour increasing taxes…….so how do you expect Labour to improve the prison service

I expect them to make a start by simply ordering the prisons to check the names of the prisoners they are releasing or do you think that too complicated an order to be passed down the line?

The title of this thread
Self explanatory. Many normal posters agree. Obviously the liberal leftie hand wringers on here take offence but I do wonder what their attitude would be if a child of theirs was murdered. Me, I’d want to personally kill them in the slowest and most painful way possible.

No. Normal people do not relish the idea of a prison system run on the basis of vigilante prisoner-on-prisoner violence and murders.

That's an uncivilised view.

Normal people do wish death in child murderers. Whatever method works is fine by me. The more painful the better.

Well it’s a view I’m happy to have. If that makes me uncivilised in your eyes, so be it.

Rules were changed recently to say that the prison governor has to check and approve releases.

When that one at Wandsworth happened recently the governor wasn't there ...

... because ...

... he'd been seconded to run an inquiry into an accidental release from Chelmsford Prison.

What if it was an adult friend that was murdered, would you want to do the same thing to them? Or because they killed an adult would they get a more lenient type of punishment, 20 years and a kick in the nuts?

...and where are these 'normal' posters that you speak of?
