Retirees who did not previously have a PIP in place can apply for Attendance Allowance instead.

Therefore, logically - those previously eligible for PIP, who have since reached retirement, ought to all apply for Attendance Allowance? The system would then be fair.

I had no need nor intention to cross the road. I was waiting to get past to access the bus stop on that side of the road.
If I was forced to cross the road, I would have to back up, in with my 3 wheel walking aid, to cross the road at a crossing point, then walk the 50 meters back to where you were blocking the pavement, another 50 meters further to cross the road back again. That is an additional 150 meters. If I could do that without difficulty, maybe I would not have needed the 3 wheel walking aid in the first place.
And you can not understand why you get abuse from disabled people, or mothers with prams, pushchairs, etc.?
You should ask your boss for some awareness training.
Perhaps we shouldn’t fix these lights and leave them in case we offend a disabled person. How utterly ridiculous to make sure that everyone else is safe whilst holding up a disabled person. I will put your complaint in to our complaints dept and see if we can ignore any faulty lights and zebra crossings just in case.

Mothers with prams are no problem. They usually like to flirt with me for 15 mins whilst I hold them up. They love it and will often report faults that don’t exist just so I hold them up

How do you feel about ambulances, fire brigade and the police blocking you. They are also very insensitive to your needs too. Let’s get this put through parliament and ban all emergency vehicles from blocking you. Everyone is just so dam selfish nowadays aren’t they.

I'm not sure hwm has the right to impede pedestrians without making some provision for them to get past.

Traffic is a different issue
Well if you’re not sure why are you commenting on it. Do you think that we at National highways may need your input on this?

Not necessarily.

If a person is materially-incapacitated (to the extent that the PIP eligibility criteria are satisfied) in their younger years, they are "disabled", for want of a better word.

Growing old is not becoming "disabled", in the same sense (although the physical / mental challenges could well be the same, in a practical sense).

Might be, to a degree though, an argument of semantics: "allowance" vs "PIP" (actual level of assistance related to each, and whether they differ, notwithstanding).

Have you considered the implications of 26 repairs per day that each of us have to do to reach our KPI ? How much time and manpower along with the costs would you like to add to this and are you willing to foot the bill for all of this and turn a 15 min job into a few hours. Your council tax of course would be well spent. If the job is for a few hours we do put alternate arrangements in place but that is why we are allowed anything up to a 15 min period to keep costs down.

How did the 'awareness' course go?

What are short duration works in traffic management?

Short-duration works involve a single vehicle or a small number of vehicles undertaking one or more intermittent stops of: up to 15 minutes – could be used for activities such as street light maintenance, pole testing, road markings, compliance testing, jetting of sewers, jet or velocity patching, etc; or.

Just to put any more lunatics minds at rest. Try googling it before replying with your own version of street light repairs. Rest assured you have a pro on here that knows every highways ruling.

AI Overview

Yes, highways maintenance vehicles can operate with wheels on both the road and the path (straddling the path) when performing essential street light repairs.
