Think Hameln is gone now like a lot of units in Germany, sad really but I hear there is talk about putting a greater presence like we used to have back into Germany to strengthen NATO.

It was a great place, really enjoyed it, of course it was back in the cold war days, & we knew if it kicked off we had about 48 hours to live, but we were young, & the women..............& the clubs.............I remember deploying to a harbour area along side a woman's open prison, you don't get luckier than that, unless you were me! My chance came & went, I had to take a Brigadier to an O group, & ending up back at camp.

That would be reasonable if the soldiers that actually do commit atrocities get banged up too.
Far too much gets swept under the carpet.

I had a brother in law (dead now) who was in Brixmis, he used to drive others into E.Germany to monitor and photograph stuff, think he was the getaway driver.

But under your criteria ?? All or most of the special forces would probably get banged up ??

Lord Danet ( I think) many are now resigning from the special forces due to concerns about prosecutions ???? Or lack of back up from government etc

All of this risk of prosecution is totally out of order. It is stopping our forces to complete tasks with the threat of court action and being made accountable. Send in the politicians and the solicitors instead and let them take the wrap.

And maybe they need to clarify what is, and what is not, lawful for UK servicemen to do.

They might struggle to justify that it's lawful for soldiers to shoot unarmed civilians who are running away in the back, or unarmed civilians waving white flags coming to the aid of the wounded, but swings-and-roundabouts, they might get no blow-back about soldiers shooting terrorists in Gibraltar.

Those poor little darlings as you refer to them are doing a job that they are being paid to do, too many people are very quick to criticise and judge based on what they feel is wrong, do you not just think that war is wrong rather than point the finger towards the poor souls who are sent to do the job.
