• Looking for a smarter way to manage your heating this winter? We’ve been testing the new Aqara Radiator Thermostat W600 to see how quiet, accurate and easy it is to use around the home. Click here read our review.

What have you been doing today?

Chaos.....

We had two calls to make in the Main St., one to discuss what seemed to be an overcharging, on our card, last time we were in Spoons, for a meal, to collect a prescription, and a letter to post. Av set off on foot, me tagging along on the scooter. I got to the main st., took the letter from her hand, and popped it in the post box, turned around, and she had completely disappeared.

Decided, she had maybe walked on toward the chemists, and so went there, no sign of her, so thought I maybe ought to collect the prescription, before they closed for lunch. Very busy, so I was there a long time, then they couldn't find it, guessed that Av might have between me to it, reached for my phone, but I'd forgotten to pick it up, and so went over to Spoons, to see if she were still there, no sign of her.

I then waited, 20 more minutes in the main st., watching and waiting before giving up, and heading for home, which was still locked. Managed, at last, to ring her, and she was still in the st., and looking for me. I explained, about not collecting the prescription, and asked her to pop into the chemists, and try again to collect the prescription.

However did we manage, before mobile phones?

Came home from my Spain trip the other day and realised that I had lost my kindle. I told the woman that organises the motorcycle trip company and she said she'd collect it from the last hotel we stayed at. Had a message today saying she had it and was double checking my address to send it back to me.

Had to go to Chelmsford to pick up our Fiesta - the DiL had been using it as her old car was out of action but they went out and bought a Nissan Juke from a main dealer with some inheritance money my mum had left her. 12 months warranty, a fresh MOT and fully serviced so that’s her off my back for at least a year! :ROFLMAO:

Going to Harrogate for a long weekend for my birthday. Just packing the cases now. Setting off in half a hour (allegedly). Going for 4 days, she's packing for 12. You know the score……

Any locals on know of anywhere worth visiting while we are up there? Where to eat? Things to do?

Edit: Just remembered, we are booked in to a place called the pickled sprout. I've just checked and thankfully, it’s not a vegetarian restaurant!

Set off only an hour late, not bad for us. Had a comfortable ride up in the Tucson. It really is the easiest car I have driven. Switch on the adaptive cruise control, switch on the lane keep assist and you can take your hands off the wheel and your feet off the pedals and it will literally drive itself. It'll speed up and slow down according to whatever the car in front is doing, it'll brake to a stop if necessary. The lane keep assist keeps you in the middle of your lane and will drive round bends without any input from me. It’s great, I can just close my eyes, put the seat back and have forty winks. (Just joking about the last bit, obvs!). We are in a cottage a few minutes walk from the centre of Harrogate. Going to take a walk in to Harrogate tomorrow for a little bit of pre-Christmas shopping.

Had a nice walk round the shops and I must say, Harrogate is the most ethnically undiverse place I’ve ever been to - not a single non-white face to be seen in the street. Not one. And, how friendly are the people? Every shop we went in to, the assistant or cashier struck up a conversation with us. Very pleasant.

Started sorting our drawer-fulls of photos.

Found two that raised a smile.

People queuing for tea, coffee and what??

This one I took in the 70s or 80s in Mousehole and it still makes me laugh today.

It's quite civilised, up here.

I spent 6 years in Yorkshire at secondary school.

I do have a soft spot for it and the people are lovely, duck.

then I put the TV on and wonder what's going on

Found another great photo. Summer 1981. Me playing with a young female Orang Utan in a clearing in a Borneo rainforest.

She stole and chewed up my flip flops and I had to walk back to civilisation in bare feet, watching out for scorpions all the while.

Great photo. (y) It looks like she's looking up your shorts and thinking ‘it’s like a real one, only smaller'. :ROFLMAO:
