The immigrants are not the cause of all this country's ills, that's for sure. But Brexit did cause an increase in small boat crossings.
Ironic really. Brexit voters are generally the same people who don't want the small boat people here.
Boris tried hard to convince us that Europe tried to make life difficult for us by imposing "silly rules". It backfired on one famous occasion where he was waving a kipper or something because actually the food regulations Europe adopted were ours!
Your first point securespark is utterly delusional, one day life for our british grand children will be very different and this will be directly caused by significant shift in the population majority. Look at the stats take a drive round Bradford, Birmingham, London etc, that will be the rest of the country very soon. My home town has also changed so much most of the people i know live there have moved away, some face regular intimidation and harrassment (mostly the women) from locals, the police do nothing.
I can go on, i have many things i could allude to about cases of rape and women who have been approached, physically grabbed, touched, abused about their appearance etc all in my current home town which has 3 hotels all populated by single young men, there are constant weekly meets going on between police and irate families asking for action, they are all basically saying this will cause outrage and give our town a bad name ie not wanting it to get out in the press, eg try to address and resolve internally.
A bit like another similar issue we have in the papers now with grooming gangs right, but no lets bury our heads in the sand, nothing to see here. Next youll be saying you've never seen a man abuse a women therefore believe its not an issue in this country right? So i say to you, if you personally haven't had the trauma of seeing your daughter, sister or someone emotionally broken by such an incident, good for you, you're alright eh?
Now.. Brexit. A ****ing broken record moan 'if it wasn't for Brexit' such a generalist fkin term, and yes some of it is true, i voted brexit, but yes i was a fool because i had was stupid enough to believe our HO+Government in power had the tenacity and committment to make it work best for the country. That was the biggest mistake i made personally. Absolutely stupid, and in hindsight yes i would have voted to stay.
However yes id still vote brexit tomorrow had it been executed by a proffessional team not a bunch of charlatans and underpaid burnt out(fatigued) limp wristed civili servants who literally dont care.
I can't be bothered to type the rest so on this occassion ChatGPT can fill in the blanks for me read below, its all roughly what i was going to convey anyway.
The UK could have avoided the small-boats surge
There was nothing in the Brexit vote or its principles that
required losing the ability to return irregular migrants to France or other EU countries.
We simply didn’t negotiate one.
- The EU said repeatedly: “If you want frictionless returns, negotiate it as part of the deal.”
- The UK side prioritised trade and sovereignty headlines over migration mechanics.
- Result: the UK left the Dublin system (which allowed returns) with no replacement mechanism.
This was a
policy failure, not an unavoidable consequence of Brexit.
“Get Brexit Done” fatigue absolutely played a role
By 2019–2020, the political mood was:
- “Just finish it.”
- “No more delays.”
- “Sign whatever — people are sick of the arguing.”
That “Brexit fatigue” meant:
- Little appetite for detailed technical solutions.
- No patience from politicians or voters for prolonged negotiations.
- Complex migration questions were kicked down the road.
- The government sold the line that “the deal is oven-ready,” when it absolutely wasn’t.
Important:
Proper immigration and returns arrangements would have taken longer.
But politically, nobody cared — they just wanted closure.
And there you have it, so from that time on, all the losers who lost Brexit repeat the same 'Because of Brexit...' because of course you lost, you wanted it to fail you didn't get your way. But actually it could have worked much much better, and yes the brexers were fools to believe we would be delivered the promised end goal(s) run by people NOT up to the job then just like they are absolutely not now. None of them are fit for the purpose its a national disgrace, right down to the moment Cameron did a runner instead of growing a pair and doing the job he was being paid to do.
