Flags to be Replaced

If we take the example noseall quoted here of Palestinian flags being flown

How do you know that the people who put them up chose to do so "over" putting up the Union flag?

i.e. how do you know that they made a decision to fly those flags in preference to flying the Union flag?

How do you know that they didn't put them up for a specific Palestine-related reason for which it would have made no sense to put up Union flags?

And talking of "lefty views", could you tell us which of the following you consider to be "lefty" countries?

OMG give it a rest. I couldn’t give a flying f***k who put them up or why. They are not the union flag nor the St George’s flag so need permission to strap them to a lamppost. Don’t give a dam if legal or not they will be taken down if no permission has been sought.

Is that what is important to you?

You made it of generic importance when you posted these:

Absolutely, if anyone threatens anyone it is always the left.
Absolutely I am. Not talking about the far right extremists but certainly the left wing are particularly violent.

When you say that it's always the left who threaten people, and that the left wing are particularly violent, and then talk about mobs of psychos threatening people's lives, and tracking them to their homes and threatening them and their families, of course it's important to ask you if you really think that those psychos etc are left-wing.

As will all illegal flags. No need for the self aggrandising..."flags to be replaced" jakanory blarney either. Just say you have been ordered to take them all down. No shame in that.

More than likely.

All flags require permission to be fixed to lamp posts, neither the Union nor St. George's are exempt from that - that's why you were sent to take them down.

Was the stance of highways and we still take them down if they are causing problems. The new stance is because everyone is so patriotic towards our national flag they can remain.

WRONG

Some flags require formal consent from the local planning authority but, crucially, the union jack and the St George's flag do not.

More than likely.

In the past you've expressed sentiments that left-wing people hate our flag, hate our country, are not patriotic.

Now you're saying that these mobs putting you in so much fear for your safety that you refuse to do the job you were tasked with are more than likely left-wingers.

We have tried taking them down, you quickly get surrounded by an angry mob, we gave up and left them as people are very patriotic towards them,

Now you're saying that people so patriotic towards the Union/St. George's flags that they form angry mobs surrounding you when you try to take the flags down are most likely left-wing people.

OK.

I think that applies to flying flags in general. But I believe as regards roads, lampposts etc., the permission of the relevant Highways Authority is always needed.

And you would know this because??
Driving up and down the country it’s clear many of the flags that were put up in the Christmas frenzy have been permanently removed. I doubt the ones round your way are legal. A flag facing inwards or parallel to the kerb is arguably more unsafe because drivers will rubber neck to getter a better view. Accidents are more not less likely. I’m not challenging what’s happening on your watch but the way you announced that the rest of the country about to follow.

I think that is correct, the re formists don’t understand that a patriotic gesture doesn’t mean it’s automatically OK in highway safety sense.
