Hi everybody

Got a Veritas 8 control panel and an Odyssey 1E Bell box, just changed the battery in the panel and want to change the battery in the bell box.
Can anyone explain how I can put the bell box into Hold-off mode so I can work on it without the sounder going off?

Thanks

The Veritas will depend on its age and if the strobe wire is connected.

So if the panel uses prog to get into the menus

can’t remember if there is specific menu to do this, something is telling me maybe.

However strobe test you can activate strobe on and off three times, you can then check the comfort LEDs to check it’s in hold of mode.

However how old is the system? Bell batteries don’t need changing as frequently as panel batteries, and I would opt for bell replacement for the few quid extra and the whole bell is under warranty, spend more and odyssey 1 has a 5 year warranty but he E a 2 year warranty but you might want to double check that’s the case before buying

Thanks for your reply. This is what the manual says.
Engineers code Prog then press 05 then 6

All Texecom bell boxes feature a unique, patented
"Engineer Hold-Off Mode", which disables Self-
Activate the Lid Tamper to facilitate convenient
servicing. Option 6 will cause the strobe output to
pulse 3 times to invoke Hold-Off Mode. Zone 2 will
flash to indicate the strobe pulsing after which Zone
6 will indicate that Hold-Off Mode has been invoked.

Tried this, but the strobe only flashes once, and zone 2 light comes on for a few seconds, then goes out; the comfort LED on the right side. flash think that's what it's supposed to do.
Not tried to remove the box cover yet, too windy. The panel is 4 1/2 years old. So, the battery should be ok would be nice to know for servicing, how to invoke Hold off mode

Thanks again

The LED status is covered in the manual for the odyssey series. There are few things the comfort LEDs indicate.

I very much doubt you will need to be replacing the bell battery if its only 4 years old.

Yeup very windy here also.
