Veritas R8 - disconnect bell box

Hi
I have a Veritas R8 with a Texecom Odyssey bell box.
The system is wet up and running and I have the engineers number.

My problem is that I need to alter the wiring connected to the bell box.
Is it possible to temporarily disable the alarm so that I can put a joint in the bell box cable to re-route it? Or ... do I have to open the bell box and take out the battery etc?

I've noticed that there is an "Engineer Hold-Off Mode" with some systems - would this do the job?

Yep.

Do you know how to test the bell box?

If you select test strobe and turn it on for one second and then off again three times it puts the bell box into engineers hold off mode which allows you to romeve the cover or completely remove power to it without it going off.

You will know it is in hold off mode when only one of the alternating green flashing LEDs on the box continues to flash.

I have the instalation manual so can look up how to test the bell box.

Will try the hold off mode at the week end ...
... hopefully without disturbing the neighbours!!
