Hello Forum,

I have posted a picture of my current wiring arrangement.

Would anyone be able to tell me if this set up would work? I e. Will the main circuit still function properly with the kinetic switch is where I propose to put it?

As you can guess I want the pendants to operate independently of the spot lights and I don't want to add a new switch. (real life photo also attached) hopefully provides more context.

Any help much appreciated. Thanks alot

No you will only be able to switch the pendants on when the spotlights are on.

Thanks Pete,

Yeah now you say it, that makes complete sense.

Any thoughts on a solution with minimal damage?

Could you get a supply to the pendants from a local socket from above via an FCU (spur)

Thanks Pete. I could or could I spur off the extractor fan which is the nearest source I can think of?

So essentially for my switch to work the pendants need an independent supply?

Yes that would work and that would keep it in the lighting circuit (assuming the extractor is fed from the lights)

You said in your other thread that you wanted the new lights on the same switch as the existing ones.

I want the new lights to be on the same switch, in which case, could I just continue off the last downlight, it's connecting to a 3 way terminal block for the new lights fitting.

A job for another day/month or year who knows!

Happy to have just got the new lights up with no trouble

Hi EFL,

Yep! That was the initial idea which was achieved! But there are almost too many lights in that area now so was looking for solutions.

I first thought looking at quinetic that you could use a 2 gang switch with receiver and wire the spotlights into that as if replacing an ordinary lightswitch and use an additional reciever for the pendants as described.

However it says that the 2 gang with receiver cannot be used with other receivers so that idea is out.

So it looks like its will need to be a 2 gang switch:
https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/QUWS2W.html (or another colour one)
and 2 off receiver:

Fit 1 receiver in the LNE line from the extractor - either end whichever you can fit it in.
Fir the 2nd receiver behind the current switch if it's a plasterboard wall with space behind - you may be able to fit it in a deeper backbox.
The switches themselves take up little room in the backbox, they are very flush as they can also be stuck anywhere on the wall.
Pair each side of the switcch to different receivers and your good to go.

You may have to make a slotted hole in the ceiling to be able to fish a wire towards the extractor.

Hi MattyLad,

Thanks for your comments!

Hi everyone,

What do you think of this? Attached is a drawing.

Im still trying to find a use for my wireless receiver. I want to try and use it as a second switch for a bedroom light.

Iv taken a look at the wiring at the light but I'm not sure how I would connect the receiver and still maintain use of the normal switch. Iv had a fiddle around and just end up tripping the circuit.

Cheers!
