As a teenager I obviously went to discos but was never that keen on the music and even less keen on dancing so I tended to seek out those obscure bars that had a decent jukebox with a bit of Clapton, Dylan and Hendrix. Problem with these bars is the girls weren't the most attractive, they were the sort of activists you might see at Greenham Common, ban the bomb, probably hadn't washed for 3 days.
One night at a disco, I was leaning against a wall with my pint of lager when a song I hadn't heard before came on, I looked down and to my horror saw my feet moving, before I knew it I was on the dance floor boogying away surrounded by attractive girls.
Oddly enough, some 20 years later I was browsing the 'sale' section in HMV and picked up a greatest hits c90 cassette of this band for about 2 quid, I was surprised that on playing it, I knew every single song.

The best of quo in their best years.

Quo impersonator:

Close your eyes between 0:35 & 1:06 and see if you could tell

Apparently an interviewer once asked Jimi Hendrix "what's it like being the best guitarist in the world?" and he replied "I don't know - go and ask Rory Gallagher".

Quo were massively underrated as writers and musicians.

The middle section from 1 min 40 secs to 4 min 5 secs of Roll Over Lay Down is a masterclass of integration and dynamic progression. It's a deceptively complex piece of music, with wonderful interplay from the whole band.

Blues Fest.

Should have been Friday, but on that morning Ihavenojob posted Peter Green "I need your love so bad", which was in my compilation, and then I didn't get round to finding a replacement. Annoyingly I'd looked at the one he posted, but decided another one was a better performance. Ho hum.

So - Sunday Night Blues Fest
