Our political system, what 'is' the answer?

I'm not sure if it's just a temporary state of mind for many of us, partly fueled by social media, soundbites and misinformation left right and centre (pardon the pun!), however there seems to be a real feeling that our current political system isn't working. At the very least, it's an assertion that is relatively easy to defend.

We have our established parties, Labour, Conservative, Lib Dems, Plaid, SNP and Sinn Fein (not an exhaustive list). However there appears to be a feeling that, no matter who holds power, we are increasingly getting the same delivery (or lack thereof) promises not kept, scandals etc.

What is the answer for us here in the UK? Is it Reform? Or the Greens? If they (Reform) gain power, will we simply see them morph into all the rest, lack of delivery, excuses, scandals, tax increases etc? Because of human traits that many leaders hold, is that a consequence we simply need to accept and expect of anyone at the top?

If we don't think Reform is the answer, then what is? Perhaps we need reform (again pardon the pun) and a significant one at that, perhaps including the abolition of the Lords? However, whilst there seems to be a lot of talk about changes that could be made, we seem to remain with the status quo from one GE to the next.

For example, up here we have the SNP in power. During a recent Debate Night (think Scottish QT) the SNP housing minister used the phrase politicians love to use, green shoots when referring to housing. Another panel member made a very valid point, saying 'If you're only at the green shoots stage after 19 years, what does that say about your party?'

These sort of exchanges can occur interchangeably between any of the main parties, such is their level of double standards and short memories.

So, back to my original question, what is the answer?

Our political system is as corrupt as any other government in the world, it is driven by greed and all politicians are looking out for themselves rather than us the electorate. We have scandal after scandal to prove this and we seem to just accept it just because that is how it is and always has been. What is needed is a complete clear out of the elite system, the ones climbing the political ladder and promising us everything but delivering nothing. We need a mixture of different backgrounds instead of public school boys and girls. Normal people who are willing to fight for what they stand for rather than pretending that they are.
This country needs real people, people like me who can get things done, a vote for me would be 20 times better than a vote for the clowns we have in our system..

I often hark back to the good old days when a party leader would hire a hitman to assassinate his gay lover or cabinet ministers slept with prostitutes hired by Russians to extract state secrets.

Life was so much simpler.

There is no single person or party that can save this country; Reform / Tommy Robinson / Rupert Lowe are just not strong enough. We need a friendly foreign invasion to help the native British get this government out (by non-violent means of course) and then they need to enact:

And following that, get the 3 trillions national debt down.

That's you f*cked then!

The 'blob' will supress any move toward change.

Fun Fact - Wes Streeting's grandmother and Christine Keeler were friends.

I doubt there's an answer.

But amongst the answers are:

PR
Citizen's Assemblies
An elected 2nd chamber
An elected head of state
A written constitution
Make lying in a public capacity a criminal offence
All of those make sense...

The problem is that in opposition politicians moot such changes...

But when having been elected by the undemocratic FPTP system, they drop them because they like other politicians fear true democracy!

The problem isn't really fixable.

The West is facing an existential vacuum.

This causes many to invent bogeymen, such as immigrants, to compensate.

Nonsense! The destruction of Britain hasn't occurred naturally; it is a result of deliberate actions by a succession of people, starting with Tony Blair. It can therefore be deliberately undone by other people.
