Hi all,

I am just looking for advice, we have had damp beneath our bay window in our main bedroom and the plaster has broken and fell away, looks like old lath and plaster.

We are going to seal the exposed wood with Ronseal and then add 50mm rockwool and install a vapour barrier and re-plasterboard.

I just wanted to check this would be ok and not cause any issues for the future, do I need to leave an airgap behind the insulation, I don't particularly want to add batons behind the insulation as the frame doesn't look the best and don't want to potentially disturb anything.

On the front of the bay window it is rendered which we are wanting to change to cladding in the future.

Thanks all.

If you can carefully open the felt lap and keep them open, it would help. When you insulate use foil sandwich PIR boards and foil tape and foam all joints. Use foil back (Duplex) plasterboards. Add a layer of PIR across the studs, if you have the room.
