What have you been doing today?

Took me Ma out for Mother's Day too.

Took her to Dunham Massey but gave her a big surprise by bringing our youngest lad (the middle one is in Coventry and the eldest, who lives in Notts, was in Kraków). We had a stroll around the gardens there, then took her for a meal at a pub in Lymm.

After that, we went for a walk in Spud Wood nearby. It used to be farmland used for growing potatoes, but is now being planted up with saplings and is used by walkers.

Had my mam around for mothers day, played her her favorite song on my guitar, The Beatles Yesterday. She started to cry and I then sang a few words from it in Russian which made Lena cry which in turn made me cry, so we were all crying and had a great time.

I was painting one of my BTLs. Rollering the paint on then noticed it was coming off in bits as quickly as I was putting it on :(

What's that saying about fail to prepare ... ;)

Our daughter is doing the Brighton marathon in April. She runs regularly but this is her first full marathon. She ran home after work this week - Canary Wharf to Forty Hill, about 12 miles. Obviously we will be going to watch her and she's left these with us tonight and says we are to chuck them at her when we meet up halfway round!

Thanks :D

Wow, that'll be a cool run to do around all the sights. Hopefully you can go out to support him.
That's what we're planning.
Mrs S worked in Lille once upon a time, so we will either visit there or base ourselves there and shuttle into Paris on the train. I guess that will be a good idea, thinking about it, because with the marathon on, le parking is going to be a bit of un cauchemar!

He, on the other hand, doesn't want us to go out there at all!
The idea of two embarrassing, crusty parents yelling him on is not at all appealing...

I told him, to be extra embarrassing, we are going to get fluorescent pink T shirts made with

"JE SUIS LA MAMAN DE WILL!"

and

"JE SUIS LE PAPA DE WILL!"

Followed by his race number...

That’ll be nice to be able to revisit some of your wife’s old haunts too.

There will be tens of thousands cheering along the route so you would have thought he would have been happy for some home supporters…maybe not in pink though

Not sure of the Paris route, but hopefully you can move around and see him at a few different locations during the run. I sent the location broadcast setting on WhatsApp so my other half could see exactly where I was during the run so she was sure not to miss me when I was getting close

Serviced my mates Transit van today while he plastered my bedroom ceiling, a fair swap. Checked it over for the mot and it has a split CV boot on the offside. Last time we found a split boot on the nearside, it took us ages and we still failed to get the CV joint apart so we ended up replacing the whole shaft. We decided to just replace the shaft on this side too. It’s the longer one with a support bearing in the middle. Get this, I've just ordered one from eBay and it’s being delivered tomorrow. Brand new, £55 all in. Hardly worth buying a boot kit and sodding about.

Will it last until next MOT?

Don't see why not. The cheap one we fitted over a year ago is still going strong. The van doesn’t get much use nowdays as he's semi retired. 2016 van, he's had it from new and only has 54k on the clock. Seller has sold nearly 400,000 items and has 100% positive feedback.
