Roof ridge tiles need replacing

Hi all,

Is this a DIY job please? My current ridge tiles are cemented but it is breaking up and I can see gaps, is it a DIY job to replace these with the dry ridge type solution and what's involved please?

Its for my single story kitchen so access is quite easy.

Retro fitting to mucky tiles can be a chore. The roll-out ridge cap fixes to the tiles with a tacky peel off adhesive layer. Plus you need to add a ridge timber to the peak, an this involves removing the first course of tiles (if you use the dedicated brackets - truss roof) or you need sufficient tile gap to fix some 45mm x 45mm tanolised timber to to the ridge board.

All this whilst balancing on the ridge. Plus you need a driver and possibly an angle grinder. How steep is the pitch? Is it a concrete tile roof? Is it a truss rafter roof?

I would just take off and re set in m
New mortar mix 3 to 1 with sparp sand. Do one ridge length at a time and use a long straight edge to keep them straight.use a stiff mix but wet the old tiles wher the new mortar is going

Do they sit on top of the red tiles and you fill in the gaps with the mix?

By the look of them you will be able to pull them off with your bare hands. Then get rid of all of the old cement and re bed in new cement the gaps in between are built up as you lay each ridge, when you take them off you will probably see broken bits of tile first covering the gap between the left and right tiles and you build up the cement on top of that. So you are not just having a thin filling - it actually is the thickness of the height of the ridge tile
