Toshiba TV remote not working

Did that remote, ever operate that TV???

The Toshiba SE-R0344 remote control was controlling the TV but no longer even though the remote's beam still lights.

It may be the Toshiba 37AV555D TV at fault but I'll take a punt and get a CT-90300 remote if that's OE for the TV.

Its a bedside TV for an elderly relative who watches the likes BBC and C4.

Many remotes, can be set up to control more than one device, from the same manufacturer, by typing codes in. I wonder if this was how your relative had this working, and has since managed to reset the remote?

I found this CT-90300 remote and the listing header states its for use with the Toshiba 37AV555D.

I'll take a punt and post feedback in due course.

Maybe just get a universal remote?

When my mum went into hospice care, I got her an One4All remote which had bigger buttons with better contrast so easier for her to use without having to reach for her reading glasses.

I was trying to get the old faulty remote to work. Its light flashes but it doesn't control the TV.

I visited yesterday and noticed the bed TV remote was in the lounge so I took it along to the bed and found another remote which works with the bed TV. It seems the cleaner found the working remote under the bed and put it back next to the bed TV.

Because the faulty remote and TV are both Toshiba, I presumed I had the right one when I was asked to look at why it didn't work.

The replacement I got from ebay is broken so its being sent back.

It seems that way. When the replacement was lost, the old faulty one was found in a draw. I was none the wiser when I was asked to look at why the remote didn't work all of a sudden. I've discarded the old faulty one. It demonstrates just because the remote light flashes when buttons are pressed, doesn't mean the remote is working.
