There was a small number of American artists in the 1960s who couldn't get noticed in their own country but were much more popular over here, and were kind of adopted by us. The Flirtations were one such group. They had a minor hit with the classic 'Nothing But A Heartache', and became a staple of 1970s TV light entertainment shows, as well as on the northern 'chicken in a basket' circuit.

This is a great video - although they wouldn't have called it a video back then. Looks like it was filmed on a Hammer film location ...

I saw Mungo Jerry years ago, they were a good tight band.

One of the founder members (not the singer with the sideburns) used to live down the road in Lerryn. Rumour has it he threatened the owner of the village pub with a shotgun after finding out he was nocking off his girlfriend, think he lives in Fowey now. From what I've heard he never made any money from his time in the music business, set up as a landscaper down this way quite a few years ago and made decent money in property.

I'll be damned I didn't realise he went to court for it. When he left Lerryn he almost demolished and rebuilt a place in Penpol on the creek which was only about 2 miles away, then I believe he moved to Fowey.

When playing music on you tube, I get peed off by adverts interrupting my music. This was in one advert and I grew to like it in the end.
'Come And Get Your Love', heard repeatedly on adverts, is pretty good. I'd never heard it before, although it was a big hit in the USA. Most of us will know Redbone from their hit 'Witch Queen of New Orleans'.
