Door opening without lintel

Hey all.

I am creating an opening from the house to the outbuilding. It is 3 bricks wide.

Problem I'm having is trying to install a lintel as I'm reluctant to start knocking in to the party wall.

As it's such a small opening I was wondering if I could rely on the triangulation and basically screw the bricks up in to the course above?

Where would I stand re building regs?

You would need a lintel or be able to prove it doesn't need one.

A couple of angle irons each side the opening chased into the bed joints??

Not so much the BR's as your building insurance. If it collapsed and affected the neighbours who would pay?

States from house to outbuilding not sure how a party wall comes into the equation although he may just mean joint wall??
