Space stuff...

I don't get the excitement about the moon pass. They did the same thing in 1968.

Apollo 8 went all the way round the moon and back to earth for the first time in 1968. That's all they've done so far this time.

More exciting things are planned in future. But so far it's just a repeat. Here at 2 minute mark:

Not too impressive seing is I do that most days in my cherry picker and only takes a fraction of the fuel to get me up there.

I think what you are not getting is, everything else we have done in the tech world has advanced 1 million fold. Space travel has gone backwards.

Time between our first powered flight* and our first spaceship: 58 years

Time between our first spaceship and today: 65 years

* OK - disputed - I'm using the Wright brothers.

Artimis 2 is going further away from Earth that anyone has gone before, a bit over 6000km further away from Earth than Apollo 13 did, but only because the moons orbit is further away from the Earth at the moment than it was during the Apollo 13 mission.
