Strawberry Studios set out to be innovative, often being the first studio to have a particular gadget or recording machine. Graham Gouldman joined the studios as an investor and became a house songwriter, making music for adverts and TV programmes. He brought in a couple of his childhood pals from Prestwich, Lawrence 'Lol' Creme and Kevin Godley. A record was put out to demonstrate the capability of the studios; this was 'Neanderthal Man' and featured Kevin, Lol and Eric Stewart under the group name of Hotlegs. It became a surprise Top 10 hit and established the reputation of the studio.

'Neanderthal Man' had a video, rare in those days, complete with Neanderthal girls...

I'd heard Gouldman was one of the first to do videos. Another trendsetter in videos was Mike Nesmith of the Monkees, he created a tv programme exclusively dedicated to music videos called 'pop clips' which was effectively the fore runner of MTV.

And his mum invented Tipp-ex.
