I know a lot of people who have made off-road parking spaces without applying to the council for a dropped kerb. Two of these have placed blocks to make it easier to get up the kerb.

Many of these are on a cul-de-sac where street parking is really limited and for that reason, the council limits how many dropped kerbs they will allow. Because if they allow everyone to have a dropped kerb who wants one, there would be no on street parking at all.

Technically, you could park where there is no dropped kerb, even if you are blocking in a car parked on someone's drive, and I have seen this happen. Indeed it has happened to me!

I had to cave in as the guy rang the number on the side of my van and the office rang me asking me to move it, but in the other case, there was a blistering row where the homeowner rang the police and a cop came out and told the guy in the house to sling his hook... Because there was no dropped kerb!

Sympathetic or not?

Yeh so if some one "blocks" someone in because they do not have a proper dropped then that is just tuff. But I dont get the council not granting one as although its removing on street parking as you can not block a dropped kerb that car tyhat would be on street is now on a drive.
And where does not allowing dropped kerbs fit in with getting everyone to have an electric car -you need off street parking so you can charge at home.

Where do visitors park?

"Getting everyone to have an electric car"?
Even those families who don't currently have a car?

I feel that only you could have done that and also that you fully deserved it
Has Morq deleted that post? I didn’t think you could get a ticket for blocking your own driveway. For the LA to issue a ticket, the owner must contact the LA parking dept. and when they come round, you have so sign a form stating that your exit/entrance has been blocked. Only then will they ticket it/arrange removal. That’s what has happened to me on several occasions when I have been blocked in/out.
