In France. We're thinking of driving there in early July. 8 or 9 days probably. Anyone on here been there on a motoring trip? Any hints or tips? Any places on the way there or back worth stopping at or visiting between there and Calais?

Give Mrs Mottie a big bag of cash to feed the tool booths with (her presumably being on the passenger side)

Or get a tag.

Route Nationales are the best way to enjoy France.

But I'd be tempted to fly and then hire a car

gorge du verdon is a must along with the classics St Tropez, Canes, Nice, Monaco. The islands are nice.

Pretty unlimited places to stop on the way. Châteauneuf du Pape if you like a wine tour. In Provence, I recommend Gordes, and Colorado Provençal for picturesque walks

Aix has a nice historical centre, the journey /scenery to and including Cassis on the Med coast is great
